Stop service cuts at Canada Post

Instead of looking for ways to modernize operations, Canada Post and the Conservatives are taking an axe to long-treasured postal services – killing good jobs, eliminating home delivery, cutting rural post office hours and drastically increasing postage rates.

6,000 to 8,000 workers will lose their jobs and five million households will lose home delivery over the next five years. Worse yet, no real consultation was done by Canada Post, effectively eliminating any opportunity for input from the people who will be most affected.

By cutting services, it is possible that Canada Post will drive away customers and raise the costs. Canada Post offers a public service that needs to be protected.

I oppose the cuts to services recently announced by Canada Post

  • CANADA POST is Absolutely Essential. Their confidential services are very important to lifelong communication for any/all Disabled Canadians of all ages residing in all parts of our vast country. Especially with severe winter conditions – along with the fact that many Disabled Canadians and/or Seniors are unable to drive – CANADA POST is extremely important now & to future generations of Canadians to come.
  • Montreal Mayor Coderre was absolutely right when he said that Canada Post was wrong not to consult with City Mayors on the placement of these Boxes. It’s a disgrace that people have these boxes deposited on their properties and have to go to on down the street for their mail. Home deliveries or NO deliveries.
  • Let’s start at the top to save money. Less layoffs and save more money.
  • Stop the destruction of our public service, which is not in decline, but profitable !

Increase the services, don’t decrease them. You know all the reasons why !!!
